Before they reach the next number on their list.
“Have you got my size in?”
Tyre calls are urgent and they are specific. Somebody is standing on a drive looking at a flat, or pulled onto a verge, and they will ring the next number on the list long before they leave anybody a voicemail.
You have had all four of these this week.
- From a layby, engine running
“Two hundred and five, fifty-five, sixteen — have you got them?”
- Price-checking three garages in a row
“How much for two on the front, fitted?”
- Nine in the morning, bay full
“It’s losing air overnight. Can you repair it or do I need a new one?”
- After a kerb
“The steering’s pulling. Do you do the alignment as well?”
The same calls, three hours later, in the diary.
It is a call answering service for tyre fitters: the size taken off the sidewall and read back, and a fitting slot agreed while they are still standing by the car.
The size as they read it off the sidewall, repeated back so it is right.
A fitting slot they have agreed to, with the size and the vehicle attached.
It will not tell them the tyre is in stock.
Nobody has looked on the rack, so nothing it says can depend on what is on it. It takes the size, reads it back, books them in and tells you what they are coming for — so you can confirm the fitment, or ring them straight back if you have not got it. A caller who turns up for a tyre you never had is worse than one who was never answered.
Everything else it refuses to doWhat tyre fitters ask.
Can it check whether we have a size in stock?+
No. It takes the size, repeats it back to be sure of it, and passes it to you with the booking. You are the one who knows what is on the rack, and it will not answer for you.
Will it get a tyre size right over the phone?+
It reads every number back to the caller and waits to be told it has it right, the same way it does with a registration. Getting told “no, two-two-five” on the call is the point.
We do mobile fitting as well as the bay. Can it take those?+
It takes what the caller tells it — the vehicle, the size, where they are and when they want somebody. What it can offer is whatever you have told it you have available.
Put your garage at the front of the queue.
It takes under a minute to join, costs nothing and never asks for a card. We ring you when it suits you.
