On the calls that are only ever a question about your diary.
Every MOT call is a diary question.
“When’s your next slot?” “I failed — when can I come back?” The calls are thirty seconds long and they never stop, and they land while your tester is in the bay with a car on the ramp.
You have had all four of these this week.
- The one you get ten times a day
“When’s your next MOT slot?”
- The afternoon after a fail
“I’ve had the work done — when can I bring it for the retest?”
- From someone who is not sure
“Do you do vans? It’s a Transit.”
- Five to six, bay already shut
“Can I drop it first thing tomorrow?”
The same calls, three hours later, in the diary.
It is a phone answering service for MOT stations: the diary question answered on the spot, the registration taken and read back, the slot agreed before the call ends.
The registration, read back character by character, and what the car is there for.
Into a slot your customer has agreed to, with a retest flagged as a retest.
It does not tell your customer when their test is due. It asks them.
Plenty of products advertise a live check that tells a caller their MOT date. This one asks the question your own counter would ask, reads the registration back until the caller agrees it, and books the slot. Nothing is stated about a vehicle that your customer did not say — which means there is nothing for them to catch it out on.
Everything else it refuses to doWhat MOT stations ask.
Can it book a retest?+
Yes. It takes the registration, notes that the car has already been tested and failed, and books the slot you have available for it. The message you get says retest, so it is not mistaken for a fresh test.
Does it know when a car’s MOT expires?+
No, and it will not pretend to. It asks your customer what the car needs and when they want to come in. Anything it tells them about their vehicle came out of their own mouth first.
We already run a tight test schedule. Will it overbook us?+
It offers the slots it has been given and nothing else, and a booking only exists once your customer has agreed to a specific date and time. If there is no slot, it takes their details for you to ring back rather than promising one.
Put your garage at the front of the queue.
It takes under a minute to join, costs nothing and never asks for a card. We ring you when it suits you.
